I’m sure with all of the COVID-19 discussion you may be starting to worry about some of your wedding details as there’s growing concern on if you should cancel, postpone or go forward as planned. None of us know what the next few months hold so it is important to calmly look at what decisions you need to make that you feel most comfortable with.
In the air of open communication, I would like to inform all of my clients the measures I am taking should your wedding be affected. I have just returned from New Zealand and will only be doing FaceTime or Skype meetings for the next few weeks until I get the all clear or longer should things require more time home ( I am not sick however just following the government requirements from international travel).
- Should there be a quarantine that impacts your engagement sessions coming up over the next few months or you’re uncomfortable having them, I am happy to transfer those to an extra hour of coverage the day of your wedding, credit towards an album or a post wedding session instead. Please advise me in writing via email about this choice.
- I have mentioned in meetings as well as on my blog about my recommendation for insurance. Those of you with pre existing wedding insurance may be fine (please ask your insurance agent), however now that this is a known event at this point insurance would likely not cover the coronavirus so please research that prior to relying on that to cover things.
- Should myself or my associate photographer shooting your wedding be ill or isolated etc., as outlined in our agreement I will make every reasonable step to find someone to cover your day, taking that stress and legwork away from you and I will still edit the images so you will get the same style of photography.
- Should your venue specifically try to cancel your wedding enacting their force majeure clause (making it impossible for the event to happen but it is UNLIKELY they would do so for smaller weddings or ones several months away) I will gladly offer a transfer your wedding to a new date as outlined in our agreement. All I ask is that you work with me to find a mutually available day that is free this year or next year if need be prior to booking a new venue so that I can remain your trusted photographer. There will be absolutely no fees for these changes. Since many of my weddings are a ways away this may not even be an issue, so I urge couples not to panic and to reach out if and when your wedding venue has reached out to you. This is an unlikely scenario, however I wanted to let you know my policy to put you at ease during some uncertainty.
I urge everyone to take measures as recommended by our government to stay healthy to help ease the spread and lessen the burden on our health care system so that this passes quickly.
Lastly, stay smiling!!! Positivity is key and as a community we can get through this.
